When protecting a building against fire and the reducing the spread of fire a building not only needs to contain fire resistant walls and floors, but also be well ventilated. Natural ventilation systems can often fail during a fire; therefore it is necessary to install a fire grille ensure full protection.
During a building fire, the fire grilles are designed to provide a barrier to restrict the flow of hot gases and smoke through a building. This works by the grilles slats swelling to many times their original thickness and then fusing together. This creates a barrier that provides fire resistance to match the surrounding construction. Normally the fire grilles will allow normal airflow to continue around a building. Our ranges of grilles are tested to 30 - 60 minute fire resistance.
Our choice of fire grilles are available in a number of different sizes ranging from 150mm x 150mm x 40mm (which offers ventilation of up to 153cmsq) to 300mm x 300mm x 40mm (which offers ventilation of up to 614cmsq).
