Tested to BS EN ISO 140-3: 1995 for sound reduction and BS476:Part 31.1 for air/smoke leakage.
Acoustic and smoke seals provide the traditional seal for fire rated timber door edges and frames. They are suitable for rebates in timber doors or frames.
Reddiplex acoustic doors are ideal for new build and retro-fit applications. Seals are supplied in 2.1m lengths as standard and are quick and easy to fit as no special tools are required. They are supplied with a high performance acrylic self adhesive tape backing to make
application as easy as possible.
Within the United Kingdom there is a regulatory requirement Approved
Document E for sound insulation in dwelling-houses, flats and for residential use and schools. These requirements not only cover party walls, but also internal walls and floors, and common areas within flats and rooms for residential uses.
Rooms for residential use include hostels, hotels, boarding houses, halls of
residence and residential homes. In some cases doors may need to be
smoke control doors, as per the requirements given in Approved Document B, whilst the seals do not function or replace the intumescent function the seals will significantly improve the sealing characteristics of
the doorset assembly.
